I've recently added photos (added in 2009 but listed as June 2006) of North Carolina, Utah and Nevada, but will add more on the 2009 site.

Check out current trip on

Appalachian Trail

Table of Contents: (See the "archives" in the sidebar)

August 2007 = Wildwood

June 2007 = Yellowstone and other western sights.

April 2007 = Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia

March 2007 = States where I have traveled and write-ups/photos on each state.

June 2006 = Trip to Texas

When viewing sections, the photos are in reverse order - most recent date first, so you may wish to read the narrative and then go the the end of that section and work your way up by date. (That should confuse you)

Remember that the listed posting times are manipulated and not actual.

Remember that there is only one Glassboro and only one Tuscaloosa, so don't ask me what states they are in.

Dreamland ribs still rule (not including my own)!

Wildwood

Wildwood: Also known as Wildwood-by-the-Sea and The Wildwoods

Wildwood has perhaps the largest beach. Most of those beach party movies of the 50's and 60's were filmed there because of the large beach.

Wildwood is located in extreme Southern New Jersey, The only beach farther south is Cape May.

The island can be approached from 4 bridges. The most common is the Rt. 47 (Delsea Drive) bridge on Rio Grande Avenue.

I approach on the 147 (? I'll have to check that number) bridge. This road is an alternate Route from Rt. 47. The other approaches are from the north and south on small toll bridges connecting to Cape May to the south and Stone Harbor/Avalon to the north.

MORE TO COME!

As you enter North Wildwood, there are osprey nests in the bay.

Green Grass and High Tides Forever!

The grassy bay areas are tidal and great for fishing, birdwatching and many other activities.

In North Wildwood, wooden boats, trolleys, etc. have been built for the children to play on.

The sand dunes separate the beach from the parking areas and hotels.
The beach is very clean.
Looking south from North Wildwood.

The beach is very wide.
You don't drive on the beach.. The tracks are from maintenance vehicles.

Waterparks are located on several piers.

An old-fashion wooden roller coaster!

The Wildwood Convention Center.

You can take a tour on a fast boat or go for a parachute ride above the waves or just go for a swim.

In the Wildwood Crest area, there is no Boardwalk and hotels and condos line the beach. The Wildwood Crest beach is very wide.

It can be a long walk from the street to the beach and some wooden walkways have been built to make it easier.
The southern end of the Boardwalk is at the border of Wildwood and Wildwood Crest.
