Wildwood: Also known as Wildwood-by-the-Sea and The Wildwoods

Wildwood has perhaps the largest beach. Most of those beach party movies of the 50's and 60's were filmed there because of the large beach.

Wildwood is located in extreme Southern New Jersey, The only beach farther south is Cape May.

The island can be approached from 4 bridges. The most common is the Rt. 47 (Delsea Drive) bridge on Rio Grande Avenue.

I approach on the 147 (? I'll have to check that number) bridge. This road is an alternate Route from Rt. 47. The other approaches are from the north and south on small toll bridges connecting to Cape May to the south and Stone Harbor/Avalon to the north.

As you enter North Wildwood, there are osprey nests in the bay.

Green Grass and High Tides Forever!

The grassy bay areas are tidal and great for fishing, birdwatching and many other activities.

In North Wildwood, wooden boats, trolleys, etc. have been built for the children to play on.

The sand dunes separate the beach from the parking areas and hotels.

The beach is very clean.

You don't drive on the beach.. The tracks are from maintenance vehicles.

Waterparks are located on several piers.

The Wildwood Convention Center.

You can take a tour on a fast boat or go for a parachute ride above the waves or just go for a swim.

In the Wildwood Crest area, there is no Boardwalk and hotels and condos line the beach. The Wildwood Crest beach is very wide.

It can be a long walk from the street to the beach and some wooden walkways have been built to make it easier.

The southern end of the Boardwalk is at the border of Wildwood and Wildwood Crest.

Plenty of games and rides along the Boardwalk and the piers.
